“The Boy and the Rock”

Once there was a boy and his father. They lived in a very small land on top of a mountain. The boy is fond of playing. He has a small play ground outside their house. But within that ground lays a very big rock. That rock has not been a nuisance to him, until one day while he was playing; he bumped into the rock and got wounded. The wound left a scar in his knee. This made the boy very sad and ever since that day, the rock has always been a burden and an obstacle to his happiness. Then one day he thought of a plan to remove the rock. First he tried pushing the rock but it was too heavy for him. On the next day he tried using a piece of wood but it was still too heavy for him. Then finally he quit and went to a corner of their house and started to weep and cry. His father heard him, went to him and said “Son, why are you crying?” “Father it’s that rock, before I liked that rock and I didn’t mind it at all because it was not an obstacle for me but ever since I got this wound, it started to be a nuisance. I tried everything to remove it but none of my attempts worked.” said the boy. Then the father replied “Son are you sure you tried everything?” The boy replied “Yes father, I’m sure I tried everything.” Then the father said “You forgot one very important thing”. “What is that father?” the boy said. “You forgot to ask for my help” replied the father. Then the father continued talking and said “Always remember son, there are many things in this world that would interfere with us and when you think that you have done everything that you can “alone” and still nothing works, always remember that other people are there to help you. They were created by God to lighten your burdens and likewise we were also made by God to lighten the burdens of others because there is no person in this world who does not live to make life less difficult for others and if he does not live like that then he hardly lives for himself, always remember that my son. Then after that long talk, the father moved the rock easily and the boy finally got his peace and happiness.
